Laboratory Safety
Performing laboratories safely is the
responsibility of all concerned - administrators, teachers, parents and
most importantly, students. A key component of Chemistry and Physics is
teaching students how to complete laboratory exercises safely and
effectively. Each year, before the first lab session, the safety
procedures and contract for the laboratory are reviewed by the class.
Students and their parents must sign the safety contract before a
student may begin work in the lab. As a reference, students are
required to maintain a copy of their safety contract in their
laboratory journal. Safety issues pertinent to each specific lab will
be discussed
by the class prior to performing the experiment. Students in
Chemistry
and Physics may expect test and quiz questions on laboratory and safety
procedures
throughout the school year.
