1. Be Prompt and Prepared - We have work to do!
2. Be courteous and respectful to others – Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Tardiness without a legitimate excuse is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
- Homework, projects, and reports must be prepared and delivered on time.
- Have your notebook, textbook, paper, pens, and pencils with you when you come to class.
- For Physics and Chemistry, a scientific calculator is required. Although it is not required, it is strongly recommended that students in Integrated Science also bring a calculator to class.
3. Be an adult – Take responsibility for your actions and expect to experience the consequences (good or bad).
- Interrupting others or disrupting lectures by talking, whispering, or horseplay will not be permitted and could, if persistent, result in disciplinary action.
- During lectures, if you have a question, raise your hand and the teacher or speaker will recognize you.
- When open discussion is allowed, permit each individual to fully express their ideas and opinions.
- Leave the classroom as you found it or better. Pick up after yourself.
- Take special care of the property of others. Try to return it in the condition it was given to you. This includes school property (textbooks, desks, lab equipment, etc.) as well as personal items. Do not write on the desks or lab tables!
- Do not sit on the lab benches or desks.
- Students are not allowed access to the storage areas. If you need something from these areas, please ask!
4. Be safe – Observe all safety rules and procedures.
- Do not cheat or copy the work of others! It benefits no one. Anyone caught copying or cheating will receive a 0 for that assignment or test/quiz.
- Homework assignments will be given out at the end of the class session and posted on the class web site at the end of each day. Unless otherwise stated, assignments will be due the next class period. Homework will frequently be discussed and corrected in class. No late homework will be accepted unless you are absent on the day it is given or due. If you are absent on the day it is due, you must pass in the assignment on the day you return. If you are absent on the day an assignment is given, you must meet with me to make special arrangements to make up the work. Two free homework assignments will be granted each quarter so that your lowest two homework grades for that quarter will be dropped. Each class will have an absentee folder containing extra handouts. Please be sure to obtain a copy of the handouts for the period(s) you missed.
5. Be a part of the class – Take full advantage of this learning opportunity.
- We will be doing some lab work during the class. Any intentional misuse of equipment or disregard of safety rules will result in disciplinary action.
- For your safety and others, anytime that you leave the classroom your departure time, destination, and time of your return must be recorded.
- Because this classroom is also a laboratory, the consumption of food and beverages (including chewing gum) is strictly prohibited.
- Participate in the classroom discussions.
- Ask questions if any of the material is unclear and seek extra help if needed.
