Use Rules

General System
Follow
all rules as
stated in the MSAD #37 policy
for Student Computer and Internet Use
and Student Computer and Internet Use
Rules.
Remember that computer use is
not a right. It is
a privilege that can be revoked.
Respect the equipment! Do
not damage the computers, computer systems,
or networks by:
§ creating, introducing, or spreading computer viruses
§ physically abusing hardware
§ altering source codes, etc.
The
computers are for learning purposes only. Do not play games
or
visit
websites not directly associated with an assignment.
Icons, taskbars, control panels,
wallpaper,
screen saver or other properties are to be left as set by the system
administrator. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS.
Use your Morgaine account for
saving and
maintaining files. Do not save files to the hard drive of an individual
computer.
Do not share your login name or
password with
anyone. Do not use other users’ logins and passwords.
Respect other people's files on
the computer. Do
not change, copy, delete, read or otherwise access files that are not
yours or
that you do not have permission to access.
Avoid excess printing. It is
expensive and a
waste of trees. When doing research, take notes on the material and
record the
URL for future use. Do not cut and paste.
The teacher is responsible for
monitoring
computer use and work in progress. Do not try by any means to avoid
scrutiny of
your work or of what you are doing at any given moment.
Internet
Do not click on any
advertisements - just close
the box or screen.
Close the lid of the notebook
computer immediately
if you find yourself on an inappropriate site. Raise your
hand
and wait
for the teacher.
Absolutely no instant messaging.
E-mail is to be used only for
learning purposes
and as directed by the instructor and/or school policy.
Keep personal information
private, including
name, e-mail address, postal address, phone number, photo, and school
address.
Plagiarism and the violation of
copyright laws are
strictly forbidden. The legal rights and intellectual property of
others must
be protected.
If any of the above
rules are broken, one or more of the following consequences may occur:
Limitations on
or
loss of computer use. (Depending on severity of the situation, this
could be
for a day, a week, a month, or an entire school year at the discretion
of the
teacher and/or principal.)
Warning letter
home to the parents from the teacher explaining the violation and its
circumstances. This letter must be signed and returned before the
student will
be allowed computer access again.
Additional
disciplinary action from the principal, if deemed necessary or required
by the
district’s usage policy.

I realize that I must obey these rules to ensure my own safety and for the protection of a district asset. I am aware that any violation of these rules may result in disciplinary action as outlined above.
